Sad Movies… Always make me cry…

July 25th, 2006 by linkie

LOL. Have you guys ever heard that song? Sad Movies? I like that song, not only because I found the lyrics of the song hilarious and sad at the same time, but also because Sad Movies really do make me cry…
OK, some of you guys who were lucky enough to witness my pride, ego, and my "ke-jaim-an" collapsed *yeah rite… LOL* when I cried more than the main characters in the movie cried, during my Character Building class on our 2nd year at uni… It’s embarrassing!! and out of all the odds, I was sitting beside the gamer boy, the un-sophisticated gamer boy *LOL*, not sitting in my usual spot with my gf, Rina. So, the aftermath of the crying was massive!! Everyone in the class found out, cuz the stupid gamer boy was laughing like a cow… If it was Rina who was sitting beside me, she would have cried to, I won’t be the only one, and we would quietly go to the rest room and fix ourselves up… LOL… So anyway, that’s my first experience of crying in front of the public *LOL*, it wasn’t even in a cinema, it was in a classroom… LOL … Well, anyway, I’m only human, and I’ve read it somewhere, every once in a while when you feel like crying, don’t hold it down, cuz it may give you a boil .. LOL. Sounds hilarious, but that was my perfect excuse, The movie was so sad, and if I didn’t cry I’ll have a boil. LOL

I always cried easily when I watch sad movies… that’s one of the reason why I love comedy so much… apart from I really love to laugh… So anyway, now I prefer not to watch bolywood movies **the truth is, I love watching bolywood movies, only the good ones of course** cuz it always make me cry ’til I sob, and when you’re sobbing, you can’t hide your crying from people around you. LOL. I also don’t like to watch sad dorama (japanese drama), korean, and chinese drama. Cuz the sad prefix here means SAD, they really drain my happiness out, and all that is left for me is a torned pride, and swollen eyes. The swollen eyes thingy, that doesn’t happen very often, so when my eyes were swollen because I cried when watching a movie, it means the movie really, really, really is SAD.. LOL.

Well, anyway, I’ve told myself not to watch, and not to be interested in any sad japanese/chinese/korean drama again. That’s why I always ask my friends when they recommend some asian drama to me, "is it funny? is it a comedy or some story about torned family, abandoned child, and incurable sickness?" I want comedy, I don’t want no sad dramas… And on my last holiday, I violate the no-sad-drama rule T_T … that’s because of me, being addicted to asian drama after watching Ms. Kim’s Million Dollar Quest **Recommended!! Very funny, hilarious drama, I love it**, Hana Yori Dango, and Gokusen series … I’m yearning for more.. so yeah, I browse the asian drama forum, and got some recommendations there and I dl-ed the dramas that were recommended, one of them is Ichi Ritoru No Namida or 1 Liter of Tears …… How cool was that!? You can predict the storyline and what’s going to happen to me from the title of the drama…

To cut the story short, I went back home to Indonesia for holiday, and I bring along all those dramas with me, I also bring along my new Nintendo DS lite **this gadget plays a big role in the later part of the story, so I’m not a show off. what can you show off from a nintendo ds anyway**
I spend most my holiday time playing the nintendo, watch anime, and…. those dramas. So, my eyes was always glued to the screen.. On one boring nite, when I’ve just got so bored with my nintendo **my mom have been yelling about stop playing nintendo, it’s bad for ur eyes** , run out of anime, and run out of funny dramas, I decided to watch that 1 Litre of Tears … Wrong, WRONG decision here… LOL

So it was 1 a.m. in the morning when I started watching it. It has 9 episodes if I’m not wrong… ok maybe 10 or 11. LOL. The point is, the main character’s disease is discovered early. Too early… It was discovered on the first episode *what the… LOL..* , and she and her family was struggling with the disease til the last episode. It’s an incurable sickness, so you can pretty much predict the ending.. and they also have this cute and hopelessly romantic guy as the main character’s love interest….. ARGHHHHH …. I started crying from the 2nd episode, but it’s only minor crying… LOL … So the first day, I only watched 4 episode… So far, safe!! Nobody in my home discovered that I was watching a drama the whole morning, and was crying while watching them.. The next day, I decided to finish it off real quick, so started watching the drama at 10.30 pm and I started crying as soon as the 5th episode started *LOL* , it was soooo sad that by the end of the drama, and I have this empty pack of Kleenex, with a pile of wet tissues in my desk *I know it’s gross* But the most interesting part is, I cried so much I sobbed, and on top of all, I was thirsty, and my head hurts… This was the very first time in my life where I cry until all the fluids in my body was drained, and my head aching … HUahuahuhaua…. and my eyes… they’re totally swollen … **still bigger than Makoto’s eyes though … LOL**
I did everything I could to tackle the swollen eye, I wash my face, wash it with iced water, put some ice on it…. I wish I could stay awake a few more hours, let the swollen reduced a bit, and then sleep, cuz when your eyes’re swollen and you sleep, it will get worse when you wake up!!! It will be there permanently for the rest of the day!! But it’s already 5.30 in the morning when I finished watching the drama, and my mom will get up soon… So, no choice I had to sleep…

When I woke up… It’s nightmare… My eyes were swollen, so bad that my mom even noticed it when I was still asleep, she woke me up cuz my eyes was swollen. SHe said it’s because I slept too much… **it’s not too much mom, I’ve just fell asleep a few hours ago**  LOLZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz  That was one of the most hilarious moment of my life… I have to act as if I don’t know what happen with my eyes, put a poker face on, maintain my innocence, pretend to be surprised, and at the same time trying not to laugh… LOL … Later on, one of my dad’s employees spotted my swollen eyes and said "Let me see your eyes. OMG, you cried last nite, rite??"  I went, "Oh noooooo…. I’m busted!!" . But our housemaid saved my life, she said "Nooo, she didn’t. She just sleep too much".. LOL.. I love my housemaid… HOhohohoho.

Later on, my mom decided that my eyes got swollen not just because I slept too much, but also because I overwork my eyes, have my eyes glued on the nintendo’s screen, and to the computer monitor, so I injured some of the nerves around my eyes, and they became swollen …. LOLzzz  Sorry mom…   I didn’t lie to her ok. I just don’t say anything, cuz she didn’t ask me anything. She’s the one who decided that I slept too much, my eyes got swollen, and later on accused Nintendo and the computer as the culprit, without giving me the chance to say anything. Well, I prefered not to say anything though. I didn’t lie, I just didn’t say anything … So she banned me from playing nintendo and using my computer for 2 days … Fair enough, I’d rather not play nintendo and computer for 2 days rather than being laughed by my mom, dad, and sis for crying when watching a drama…

Well, sorry mom, maybe I’ll tell you the real story next year……  And my excuse will be, 1 Liter of Tears is based on True Story, they even have the real picture of the girl who’se life inspired the drama at the end of each episode, and have quotes from the book she wrote during her struggling with the disease… Anyway, anybody knows whether they have a translated version of the book? and where to buy it??

Hometown Update

June 30th, 2006 by linkie

I’ve arrived @ home two days ago, save and sound ^^ . Some bad experience occur during my trip home of course. I’ve always know that alcohol was never my best friend. So yeah, I took Singapore Airlines flight Melb-Sgp-Mdo this time, which gave me the privilege of having red/white wine as the drink option… To cut the story short, I decided to have a glass of wine or two.. well just to help me ease my airplane travel insomnia. LOL. First glass, still not quite relaxed yet, so I took the second one.. Now I feel alrite, feel more relaxed and a lil bit sleepy… (I don’t drink alcohol contained beverages regularly).. I almost fell asleep, when I feel the urge to use the lavatory…. no, not the BIG urge, the minor one. LOL. And then, when I was in the lavatory, I feel he bad combination of alcohol + weak alcohol tolerant nerve, and low/high cabin pressure…. I’m not drunk, but I want to puke… Strange, I only drink two glasses of wine, and I experience the same feeling when a few years ago, back to my partying days, I was drunk in a bar, fell under the table, and fell asleep in the toilet……… I almost unable to go back to my seat, LOL, and the only thoughts in my mind was, "Nooo, not now!! I don’t want to meet my parents with my face as red as steamed crab, and how am I going to take my luggage when I can’t even stand up straight" LOL. It was hilarious… But thank God, they do have fresh lime slices…. Fresh lime slices and water is my highlight of SQ’s service… LOL…….. So yeah, anyway, I feel better (and sober) right after the citrus extract flow through my system……

Nuff, with the amusing airplane trip experience. My update on my hometown:
- For you guys who have ever been to Manado, or came from Manado, you know how "big" our shopping mall is. Well, now we have another one, with size almost three times bigger than the old one (Yeah!), and with number of people shopping there five times as many as the old one. LOL… Well, not bad though, we’ll soon have Maccas, new 21 cinema (the old one is just nasty… Finding Neverland is still "coming soon", LOL ), and J Co Donut.
- Bread Talk, A & W, and Hypermart already open…
- Seafood pricing is getting worse, despite their fantastic taste and flavor.

Well, I guess those are all the updates here… Oh another ‘hot topic’ being discussed here is, the Mayor of my town/city is currently in Germany, watching the world cup matches, having said that he’s going to Amsterdam to address some investment talk there… So much for the future leader figure… Oh, and he paid the travel fee of one of the journalist from the biggest local newspaper to Germany to cover all the latest world cup news… So yeah, it was never on the newspaper. The funny thing is, people here wish that his face (the mayor) will get shoot and appear on TV screen when he’s watching one of the world cup match. LOL…

Deep Dark Chocolate Brownie

June 8th, 2006 by linkie

Deep Dark Chocolate Brownie with Macadamia nut

340 gr Semi-sweet/Dark Cooking Chocolate*
150 gr Unsalted Butter**
250 gr/ 1 1/3 cup Brown Sugar
4 egss
1 cup Cake Flour
120 gr Sour Cream
100 gr Macadamia nut
1 tsp Vanilla Powder

*) use 240 gr dark cooking choc if you want to add 100gr choc chip to your brownie
**)222gr Unsalted butter if you don’t have sour cream

Method:
- Butter parchment/cooking paper & dust with flour
- Melt chocolate, stir in butter until it is melted (Some people melt butter and chocolate together, I melt choc first and than add butter later to prevent burning the chocolate)
- Beat the butter n choc mix, beat in sugar, add egg one at a time. Beat until mixture lightens
- Blend in flour, vanilla powder. Do not overmix
- Blend in Sour cream and macadamia (n choc chip if u’re using any).
- Pour into baking dish/tray. Bake at 180°C (150°C if using non stick pan) for 30-35 minutes
- Cover pan with foil, bake again for 10 minutes. (or until the toothpick inserted come out clean)

Now, I’ve made this brownie several time, and have tried some variation with the recipe. But this recipe here is the one that gives me consistent result… LOL… I’ve actually tried to add a layer of cream cheese to the brownie. But it didn’t end up as how expected it would be…. T_T Still taste great though ^^

gtg… need to study for exam n finish my BIG IIP assignment……

PS: some picture of the brownie *it is blurry, cuz I use my mobile phone’s camera…

My ‘Lil Sista

May 24th, 2006 by linkie

No.. the cute lil chix above isn’t my sista.. I just luv that image. LOL.. can’t get enuff of it.

I know I talk a lot.. LOL.. and most of the time, when I talk, I either talk about my family (esp my spoiled lil sista, who managed to academically shines in her high school, which drives me crazy… well. speaking bout talent…), talk about my school (if I ever gonna be bald, I bet this one will be the major driver of my baldness), or complained about anything (just anything, aite.. I know.. I’m trying to get rid of this habit).. So yeah.. the so many long conversations, or should I say monologue *cuz I’m the only one who do the talking, the others are bored to death*, leads to this one question from my friend: "Lu ada foto ade lu ga? Kok kyknya lucu banget sih?" *translation: do u have any pic of ur lil sister? from all ur stories, she sounds cute* And I was like, "gosh, I dun have any pic of her…" not that I dun wanna have one.. she just can’t be photographed.. well you know… one of those human being who refused to be photographed, unless she’s obliged to, e.g. passport photo, id photo, her birthday photo… Considering she’s only 15 *turning 16 this year*, and she can barely stand her pimples, and her ‘tan’ … lol.. , maybe that’s the cause of why she’s so uncomfortable when someone trying to transfer the image of her into a piece of paper (or an object of pixels, digitally speaking… *ooh geeky… lol)… I just can’t wait to see her finally be self actualized, and become one narcissistic being *narcissistic is not the right word actually, it supposed to be some kinda weird personality/mental disorder*.

So, the point is, I somehow managed to get some of her pictures (of course not a close up studio picture), from her school friends’ friendster!!! Another reason why I don’t ditched friendster.. yet… I can sniff on my sister’s life while she’s thousand miles away in her fancy high school and boarding house…. Well, one of the issue of course, "any potential boyfriend?" LOL .. my mom gonna love my every single report… ROTFL … relax, I’m not that kinda sister… I luv my sister… the thing is. I dun think she’s ready for the real life though.. But I might not have to worry, considering she’s amazingly bright academically, despise people with lack of logical and analytical skill, have high expectations, and above all, fear my dad’s wrath (triggering event including having a boyfriend before you at least have a bachelor degree qualification), the chance of her getting involved in emotionally intense and logically tedious relationship is somewhat lies on the left-hand side of rational numbers bar.

Alrite, nuff the babbling… here’s sum pictures of my sis:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Surprise.. surprise… my sis is the one in the middle, trying to be ‘cool’ by not looking to the camera… and she’s listening to my iPod!!! she hijacked my iPod nano which I bought with my hard-earned money!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
My sis is the one with the stripey white-blue shirt… From the quality of the picture, I suppose this pic is taken around dinner time with someones mobile phone camera.

So, that’s my sis… not surprisingly enough.. I miss my little sister a lot… One Little sister is not enough.. cuz she’ll grow, she’ll become this nasty teenage, and finally become an adult… not a cute lil sister anymore… I want siblings who can be cute forever. Maybe I should ask for a ‘new’ siblings to mom and dad… LOL… never to late to grow a bigger family. Huahuahuahuaa.

Chocolate Souffle

May 20th, 2006 by linkie

I’ve been craving for Max Brenner’s chocolate souffle for 2 weeks.. and yesterday just when I got the chance to hang out with my cell mates @ the oh-so-popular so called chocolate sanctuary, they piss me off.. LOL. ok, they made me upset. so upset… Oh well, they just accidentally voided my choc souffle order….. and it was the last order.. so yeah, I didn’t get my choc souffle. I got a perfect excuse for why I’m so upset yesterday
1. a 3 (the 3G phone service provider) customer service personnel managed to crack in to my nerve, make me annoyed, and make leave me with the tendency to be grumpy for the rest of the day
2. I’m on my pink cycle period. LOL. pathetic excuse, but true.
3. I’m stress!!!! too many assignment, too little time, yet got no initiative and got massive procrastination spirit crawling within me. LOL… *excuse me for those bad phrase of words, I’m not good at expressing my thoughts into words*

So yeah, I got soooo upsetttt to Max Brenner… @ melb central, still love the one the one @ QV though, and I’m still craving for a choc souffle, so I decided to make one tonight!!  I saw one of the chef made it on yesterday’s Ready Steady Cook, he managed to made one in just 20 minutes… ready to serve… So I thought, I’d give it a go. I have all the ingredients anyway.. way almost all of them, I substitute some of them anyway… I managed to find the recipe from yesterday’s ready steady cook, and the the souffle’s recipe happen to be so simple… too simple I have to say. I Google for some more chocolate souffle recipe, but I some of them are more complicated, and I don’t want to make a complicated and sophisticated souffle on my first try… at least not at this time of the day (its 11.30 pm when I decided to make one)… So, here’s the simple souffle recipe:

——————————————————————

Chocolate Souffle

You need:
6 eggs (room temp)
250g unsalted butter ( room temp)
175g caster sugar
150g dark couverture chocolate

Method:
Grease souffle moulds with butter and sugar.

Set aside.

Heat oven to 200 degrees Celsius.

Whisk butter until light and fluffy. Add sugar and whisk until dissolved. Add egg yolks one at a time incorporating well.

Melt choc and add to mix.

Whisk whites to soft peak and fold gently into mix.

Pour into prepared moulds and bake for about 10mins. Reduce temp to 180 and bake a few more minutes.

Dust with icing sugar.

————————————————-

Since I’m the only one who’s going to eat the souffle (and my housemate probably want to have one), I only made half a recipe… and I managed to get 2 small ramekins of souffle…. I have to say, my first experience of making souffle is a big success!! I managed to get my souffle to rise.. but the taste… the taste is disappointing. LOL… I have high expectations!! It’s not sweet enough!! I concluded that it’s because I change the castor/caster sugar with brown sugar (I dun have caster sugar), I don’t have cooking scale to weight the ingredients… so… too small amount of chocolate… Well, next time I’ll add more glorifying ingredients… (rum, Framboise, orange juice, Grand Marnier or water, and flour!!, and  made some kind of sauce, maybe custard or chocolate sauce to go with the souffle, yum!) Better luck next time.

baking souffle…

*the souffle inside the oven & when I just get it out of the oven

note: you should not open your oven while you’re baking souffle, cuz change in temperature will make the souffle won’t be able to rise. Trust yourself, and trust your oven.. lol

*few seconds after I get them out of the oven

*few seconds later … LOLz… yup, that’s my tiny spoon, scooping the sinful souffle

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting  Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
*the other souffle (which I haven’t eat), some minutes later… (no it did not explode….), I add some melted choc on top of it, and dust it with icing sugar. yumm

pheew… I really wanna try to bake another one anytime soon.. but got lots of assignment to finish… looks like I gotta wait for another couple more weeks before I bake another one. sigh…

PS: pardon me for the blurry images.. I’m no photographer and got no digicam.. pics were taken w/ my mobile

Correction: The souffle does taste great!! It’s not very dissapointing after all… I’ve just ate last nite’s souffle leftover… and they’re yummy!!

Baked eggs with tomato and chorizo

May 9th, 2006 by linkie

bloMy new favorite recipe… easy and yummy…. healthy??? not sure. hehehhe…. I surely use very small amount of olive oil… the chorizo…

it surely is fatty. hueehue.. Btw, Chorizo is a spanish sausage.. *if I’m not wrong* or is it phillipine’s?? anyway… it is spicy, blended with some herbs… it sold either in forms of whole sausages or shaved.. I bought whole chorizos @ Safeway .. you can actually change the chorizo with your favorite sausage or precooked meat… but I think chorizo’s the best.. hehe

Eggs_narrowweb__300x4150_2

INGREDIENTS
1 tbsp olive oil
½ garlic clove, sliced
3 tomatoes, roughly chopped
salt
½ tsp cumin powder (optional)
½ (dry) chorizo, sliced
4 eggs
1 tbsp parsley, chopped

METHOD

· Pre-heat oven to 200C. Heat oil in a pan and cook garlic
till golden. Add tomatoes, salt to taste and cumin, cover with a
lid, reduce heat and cook for 10 minutes until soft.

· Spoon tomatoes into individual baking dishes with some
sliced chorizo, make a well in the middle and break one egg into
each dish. Sprinkle a little salt over the egg and place in the
oven.

· Cook for about 10 minutes or to your liking. Serve at
once with a sprinkle of parsley.

I tried to give that recipe a go… The result?? Not bad… One thing I’m a lil bit unsure, is this dish supposed to be a bit juicy?? Cuz you got tomato there… and when it’s cooked it gets juicy.. or should I use another variety of tomato?? I also add sum chili, ginger, and onion.. why?? cuz I luv them.. chili, ginger and onion… yummy… hehhe.

Anyway, I got the picture of the result of this recipe.. my version of course… got a lil bit dilemma here.. cuz I only take the picture when I already ate half of them…. btw, instead of putting it into separate small baking dishes, I put half the ingredients together in a small square terracotta baking pan….
and no, I won’t put the pic of my first Baked eggs with tomato and Chorizo…. I’ll put one when I made my second go… I just don’t wanna ruin your imagination guys.. cuz my version is just not decent enough to be posted here…  despite the taste.. yummy….

recipe from www.theage.com.au by Brigitte Hafner

Got this from Wikipedia about Chorizo:

Chorizo is a pork sausage originating from Spain. Sometimes it is made from baby goat. It is made from coarsely chopped fatty pork and usually seasoned with chili and paprika. The mild Spanish paprika used is what gives this sausage its characteristic flavor. The paprika itself can be found as either picante (hot) or dulce (sweet).

Yay!! It is from Spain… and here’s what I come up with when I try to bring that recipe into reality…

April 26th, 2006 by linkie

………………………………………………………………………………..

next…

Autumn leaves…. hmmmmmm… gw ga nyadar kalo sekarang udah autumn ^^ ehehehhee.. dodol ya… Padahal gw tau kalo udah approaching winter. Huahua, ya iya lah, dingin banget gituuu sekarang. Tadi pagi aja pas gw mo kerja, diluar 8 degrees (katanya tukang siar radio nya).. dingin deh, freezinggg. Tapi tetep aja, gw blom ngeh kalo udah autumn.. Autumn gitu loh!! Gw baru nyadar kalo sekarang itu udah autumn pas tadi sore, I was in the bus on my way home from work., Rute bus nya tuh lewatin Lygon St. trus tadi bus nya sempet stop lama di depan Carlton Garden… and then I saw those falling autumn leaves… drifting through the benches, where couples sit around, having some quality time together… hmmm autumn… all I can think about autumn is, chilling, appetite, jumper, autumn leaves (of course lar..), and romantic!!! LOL I dunno about you guys, but for me, autumn is the season where I can get my excuses where I can be melancholic and  a lil bit, just a lil bit romantic… lol I can’t help it!! Like today, those autumn leaves… the soft sun rays of afternoon, and couples, sitting on the park, beneath the falling autumn leaves… but the most wonderful thing about those couples are, they’re all gray and old.. yet they’re still together… as loving and caring as ever… spending some time together, and maybe even have some gelato (gelato is the plural version of gelati, so if you say gelatis… mate, you’re terribly wrong)…. There was only one thought that run through my mind that time.. I want to be like that.. I want to grow old together with someone I love and spending my autumn afternoon sitting on a bench in the park, beneath the falling autumn leaves… and maybe have some gelato (make it straciatella and roche) to fall in love with someone, truly fall in love, so in love that you spend your lifetime with that one person, and still in love 50 or 60 yrs later.. time can wear you down, but not your love… hehe… that’ll be a long and winding road to get there…….

Anyway, this is the song that was playing on my time when my bus stopped in front of Carlton Garden

Eva Cassidy - Autumn Leaves

The falling leaves
Drift by my window.
The falling leaves of red and gold.

I see your lips,
the summer kisses,
the sunburned hands i used to hold.

Since you went away
the days grow longer
And soon i’ll hear old winter song
But i miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

Since you went away
the days grow long
And soon i’ll hear old winter song
But i miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

it’s eva’s cover version of the classic song… I forgot who the original singer is.. doesn’t really matter anyway, cuz I luv Eva, I luv her music, and I love her version of Autumn Leaves.. enjoy ^^
